About me
As a teenager, I dreamed of becoming a fashion designer, sketching outfits for friends and helping them find clothing that matched their personality. Over time, that dream faded as high school and university took focus.
It wasn’t until late in university, when my mother gifted me her sewing machine, that the idea resurfaced. In a small one-bedroom apartment, sewing for myself and my partner, I began to learn the discipline of the craft: designing, pattern drafting, and constructing garments from the ground up. What started as curiosity became practice, and practice became purpose.
In 2021, after losing my job due to COVID, I relocated to Prince George and continued sewing, this time for friends, and eventually for others drawn to the pieces I wore. Interest grew, leading to small, niche projects, most notably tailored bomber jackets and custom garments.
In early 2025, I formally established Jon Van Works to share this work more widely. Today, I design and create each piece myself, with an emphasis on quality, fit, and individuality. Every garment is made with care and intention, guided by the belief that clothing should feel personal, crafted to last, and made to be worn with confidence.
This is where detail meets dedication.
